Facing Palazzo Corsini stands Villa Farnesina, one of the world’s most celebrated Renaissance villas.

Commissioned by the banker Agostino Chigi and designed by the architect Baldassarre Peruzzi, it was built in the early 16th century as a symbol of the Chigi family’s prestige and patronage. Its rooms preserve some of the most important Renaissance fresk paintings cycles, created by Raffaello Sanzio, Sebastiano del Piombo, Il Sodoma and Peruzzi himself. Among them is the celebrated Loggia of Psyche, universally regarded as one of the masterpieces of Renaissance art.

Over the centuries, Villa Farnesina has become an integral part of the heritage of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei, continuing to be a place where art, research and culture coexist in perfect harmony.

For the European Orchid Conference & Show 2027, this prestigious villa will host the Opening Plenary Lecture, offering participants a truly unique experience: opening the European congress dedicated to orchids in one of the iconic monuments of the Italian Renaissance, surrounded by some of the greatest masterpieces in the history of art.
